Field Assessment Mission that is to monitor liberated territories is within the OSCE Minsk Group format, the Co-Chairs are accompanied by two UN Commissioners on refugees to get familiar with the situation, Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian said in the Parliament.

According to him, the mediators are not familiar with the situation in the liberated territories, thus thanks to this mission they will have an opportunity to do it. The Minster stressed that there are hundreds of thousands Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan. They have a lot of problems but they will return to their houses if possible, but only in case of  ensured safety.

Commenting on reports by the Azerbaijani press that the draft resolution on “Occupied territories of Azerbaijan” will be discussed at the UN General Assembly Session scheduled for Dec. 3, Nalbandian said, “It is Azerbaijan’s right to raise the question. It was just postponed at the 64th UN GA session.”

The members of OSCE Field Assessment Mission visited Azerbaijan on October 4-5. Today the co-chairs arrived in Yerevan to meet with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian. Later they will leave for Stepanakert and liberated territories.
