The Israeli government would like to see the candidate from Republicans Donald Trump as a new U.S. president, The Washington Post reported.

This was declared by former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who met personally with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli government officials this spring.

“I’ve talked to the members of the Israeli government at the highest levels. I know who they want elected here. It’s not Hillary Clinton,” Giuliani stated.

According to him, Israel is afraid that in case of a victory of the ex-U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Washington will pursue policy undesirable to the Israeli government, for example reset of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

“They realize Donald Trump can say Islamic terrorism, can stand up to it. So there’s no question he would be better for the state of Israel than Hillary”, the ex-mayor is sure.

Besides, the source told edition that during the meeting with Giuliani, Netanyahu asked to convey Trump a message containing suggestions about how Trump should talk about Israel-related policy issues.
