Russia and Iran have agreed to draft a progam of strategic cooperation for the upcoming five years, co-chairman of Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission Mahmoud Vaezi said.

His remark came after a meeting with the Russian co-chairman of the commission, Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

The sides plan to reach 13 new deals and expressed willingness to move to the development of free trade, RIA Novosti reported.

Iran and Russia agreed to set up a working group on energy and construction, he said, adding that relations are moving to a new level.

“We work for peace and stability in our region,” he added.
