YEREVAN. - The NASDAQ OMX Armenian stock exchange is launching an inbound link to Clearstream international settlement system, CEO of Nasdaq OMX Armenia, Konstantin Saroyan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

To note, Clearstream settlement system already operates in Armenia, but until recently it had worked only in one direction – transactions from Armenia to foreign countries (but not otherwise). And now this connection will function in both directions. In this case the international investors will be able to acquire securities on the Armenian stock exchange without opening a deposit account in Armenia (that is, directly from their foreign accounts in foreign banks).

“The link has already been launched: we are working with potential investors. They are collecting information from us and analyzing it. We can see great interest from their side, and in near future we will inform about this and the work carried out by us in greater detail,” Saroyan said.

In his words, the interest to the Armenian stock market is restricted neither geographically (those interested are both from CIS and non-CIS countries) nor by sectors (both financial and non-financial companies are interested).
