The National Statistical Service of Armenia (NSS) publishes a report on socio-economic condition of Armenia for July of 2016 . Here is what happened in the industrial sector.

The volume of production of the mining industry and development of quarries increased by 20.6%, whereas the volume of the manufacturing decreased by 4.0%. As a result, the impact of each of the mentioned industries on the total of the industry was indicated by 2.8%. However, for the first sector positively, but for the second negatively. As a result, their joint impact made zero.

At the same time, the issues in the manufacturing industry did not disappear.  In July, the volume of production of beverages decreased by 20.6%; the volume of tobacco products by 22.7%. As known, the significant portion of the products of these industries (alcohol and cigarettes) are exported. Thus, the double-digit decline is caused due to export issues.

It is possible that the sales of those products in the domestic market was also decreased. In July, the volume of retail trade turnover in Armenia decreased at an annual rate of 6.4%. The turnover throughout the supermarkets decreased by 0.4% at that. However, the turnover of  "other objects of trade" decreased by 28.3% . The mentioned "other objects" are mainly refer to the sale of fuel for motor vehicles - gasoline, diesel, and compressed gas.

What is more interesting, is that the volume of car sales (including the sale of spare parts and repair costs) in the current year has been steadily increasing. From January to July, for example, the statistics recorded a growth of 12.5%; and the growth in July at almost 30%.
