YEREVAN. – The extension of the lifetime of the Armenian nuclear power plant is an unprecedented project, said Nikolay Spassky, the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) Deputy CEO for International Relations.

The official of the said state corporation in Russia noted this at Wednesday’s open session of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) commission on peaceful uses of nuclear energy, which is convened in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

In his words, the Armenian nuclear plant requires complex activities with the use modern technology.

“For Rosatom, which helps in the extension of the lifetime of the plant, this is a unique project, both in economic and political terms,” noted Spassky. “In the near future, we will enter a new phase of the program, with quite considerable prospects for funding.”
