The current situation in Ukraine impeded the air freight shipment from Belarus to Armenia.

Deputy Director General of Armenian-Belarusian Trading House Ar-Be, Cyril Lesnikov, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

The trading house is left with only one shop out of three in Yerevan. But the company wants to shut down the commodity section there as well, Lesnikov said.

''Due to the events in southeastern Ukraine, Belavia airlines state that they cannot fly over that territory: they can do that only avoiding it, which is, in their words, expensive. If we work with them at the new price, the cost of goods in shops will prove to be not very interesting for the Armenian consumers,'' Lesnikov said.

This is also the case when transporting goods by trucks, since refrigerator containers will be needed here, this also impacting the price. ''We cannot do otherwise, since we transport sausages, confectionary, kvass and brown bread, that is perishable products. Therefore, the commodity section will unfortunately have to be closed,'' Lesnikov said.

The trading house imports cargo from Belarus and Armenia now as well, but these are goods which don't require expenses for retaining temperature regime. This is mainly the Belshina production and malt for brewing companies.
