José Carreras, the world-famous Spanish tenor, is to arrive in Yerevan to participate in the 12th international musical festival Views of Yerevan, festival manager Sona Hovhannisyan told NEWS.am.

“We are now negotiating with the greatest musicians. Although the terms of concerts have not yet been specified, arrangements are in progress,” she said. Ms. Hovhannisyan added that the Views of Yerevan festival will start this March. However, the concert dates will be specified in about a week, she said.

The festival organizers plan to invite a number of other world-famous musicians. “Among them are the Japanese violinist Midori Gotō, the violinist Janine Jansen, the pianists Grigory Sokolov and Evgeny Kisin, as well as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir under the baton of Ton Koopman, Emerson String Quartet and others. The dates of their concerts will be announced one of these days,” Hovhannisyan said.

She also reported that other concerts will be held during the festival.

The 11th international festival Views of Yerevan was held last December. O December 3, the world-famous tenor Plácido Domingo performed in Yerevan.
