YEREVAN. – In an interview with Zhoghovurd daily, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh) Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan assured: “At this point, the situation is very quiet, very peaceful at the border,” the daily reported.

“To the query on whether we can say that the Armenia, RF [Russian Federation], and Azerbaijan presidents’ [recent] trilateral meeting in Sochi [, Russia,] has yielded its results, the Artsakh PM responded: ‘Not solely the trilateral meeting in Sochi, but also the [military] response given by our defense army has forced the adversary [Azerbaijan] to take the edge off the situation on the border.’

‘“There is a view that the current lull is temporary, and a short time later Azerbaijan will return to its destructive and provocative demeanor. In your opinion, is there such a peril?

‘“Our [NKR] defense army awaits new tensions every day and every moment and is ready to handle them. Our peace depends on the combat-readiness of the Armenian army. The recent events have proved how powerful, strong, and combat-ready it is,”’ Zhoghovurd quoted the NKR PM as saying.
