Nabucco main construction will be held no matter the disputes over Nagorno-Karabakh will be settled or not, Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies under the Azerbaijani President Elhan Nuriyev told Deutsche Welle.

He emphasized that the project is not a political deal, but an economic initiative, thus there is no obstacle to Russia’s participation in it. “This transnational project should not be taken as an anti-Russian move,” the expert stressed.

Nuriyev also deems that the project is not Azerbaijanian or European. “Through Nabucco Azerbaijan will make a significant contribution to the solution of Europe’s energy security issue and assist EU in diversification of its energy policy,” he concluded.
