YEREVAN. – France has particular place in Armenia's foreign policy agenda, Speaker Galust Sahakyan said during his meeting with French parliament's delegation in Yerevan.

On Friday, Galust Sahakyan received a delegation of French MPs led by Bruno Le Roux, head of Socialist group of the French parliament.

Cultural and historic ties as well as presence of influential Armenian community in France are important factors in relations between the states, Sahakyan said.

The official pointed out the high level of political dialogue ,effective cooperation at the parliamentary level, as well as in the field of culture, education and science.

During the meeting Sahakyan also expressed the hope that the French Parliament will be consistent in adoption of the law criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide.

Speaker of the Parliament also invited the French parliamentarians to attend events dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide in 2015.

In turn, Bruno Le Roux expressed hope that in 2015 his delegation will visit Armenia, and they will be next to the Armenian people. He also noted that the 2001 law recognizing the Armenian Genocide will be completed as soon as draft bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial is adopted.

Le Roux also said that they are going to visit Javakhk, and get acquainted with the problems of Javakheti Armenians.
