In the first half of 2010, Armenia registered U.S. $28m unfavorable balance of payments. The Statistical Service of Armenia released the data on September 30.

In the first half of last year, Armenia registered U.S. $13.7m favorable balance of payments.

The current account balance – traditionally unfavorable – reached U.S. $695m, increasing by U.S. $15m. This is mainly accounted for by an unfavorable foreign trade balance. On the other hand, the favorable capital account totaled U.S. $667m, with direct foreign investments and loans playing a key role in it.
