NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called not to compare Russia with the Islamic State.

In an interview with Bild newspaper, Stoltenberg said there is no direct threat to the NATO partners from Russia. Besides, Russia remains a partner so the Alliance tries to hold dialogue and to seek de-escalation.

As to the ISIL, the situation is the opposite. ISIL is responsible for the numerous terrorist attacks in the capitals of NATO member states. He said the Alliance will have to live with the danger of terror in 2017 as well, and the main goal is to destroy ISIL.
