EU and Armenia have initialed Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

The document was initialed by Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister, chief negotiator Garen Nazarian and Deputy Foreign Minister, trade negotiator Garegin Melkonyan on the Armenian side. The EU was represented by Luc Devigne, Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation, and Petros Sourmelis, head of unit at European Commissions’s trade directorate.

The ceremony was preceded by a meeting of EU officials with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

Minister Nalbandian welcomed the visit of EU officials and assured that the document will open a new chapter in the relations between Armenia and EU.

“Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement #CEPA is an important step forward in bilateral relations between EU & Armenia,” EU delegation in Armenia tweeted.
