YEREVAN. – Armenia conducts a constant dialogue not solely with the Russian allies, but with the other partners, in connection with modernization of the armed forces.

The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, on Thursday noted the abovementioned speaking with Russian media, and when asked about the types of arms Armenia plans to acquire.

“We purchase a variety of weapons proceeding from the individual programs for the development of the armed forces,” stated the minister. “Naturally, the majority of what be obtain is under the inscription of ‘completely confidential.’”

In his words, Armenia is interested in purchasing military equipment that can bring balance in connection with the increased arsenal of Azerbaijan, and prevent it from the use of some arms.

“But if we speak about the balance of power, in general, we have to agree with the assessments by international analysts, who believe that there is a balance in the sense that the armed forces of Armenia have several factors that enable to even out the upset balance of arms,” added Vigen Sargsyan.
