YEREVAN. – We have a lack of efficiency in all domains; we need systematic reforms in all domains, said Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, on the air of a local TV program. The PM noted that the Armenian government had “diagnosed” all the challenges and come to this conclusion.

At the same time, he expressed a view that the economic situation in Armenia is dire, but not unmanageable.

When asked how he sees the economic model of the country, Karapetyan responded: “No country will ever put the task that it wants to become this or that [economic model]. We need to grasp the advantages, and build an economy on these advantages.”

Karapetyan, however, did not deny the coalescence of business and politics in Armenia. But, as per the Premier, it is possible to change this situation by way of creating a level and competitive playing field and carrying out legal and tax reforms. And to do this, according to Karen Karapetyan, you need to have a bold program and a single-minded team.
