YEREVAN. – Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Time) newspaper of Armenia has learned that the US is trying to organize a meeting between Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, respectively.
“After the April [2016] war [which Azerbaijan had unleashed against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh/NK)], an Aliyev-Sargsyan meeting was held in May 2016, in [the Austrian capital city of] Vienna, and in June—in Saint Petersburg [(Russia)].
“And, now, another meeting is being prepared. Moreover, prior to this meeting, Serzh Sargsyan was already in Moscow on March 14, on a two-day official visit, and he discussed the Artsakh conflict matter with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin. [But] before this, Ilham Aliyev also was in Moscow for the same purpose.
“By the way, after returning from Moscow, Serzh Sargsyan headed for Artsakh, where, according to the ruling circles, he presented to local authorities the developments regarding the NK [conflict] settlement. According to our sources, Serzh Sargsyan was informed in Moscow that the [OSCE] Minsk Group will be toughening the requirements toward the two countries, for the [conflict] settlement,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
