YEREVAN. – As of Monday 11am, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia has counted 99.8% of the ballots from 2,005 of the 2,009 election precincts, and which were cast in Sunday’s National Assembly election.

Accordingly, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia is in a considerable lead, with 49.15 percent of votes tallied.

The other voting results are as follows:

Yelk [Way Out] Bloc – 7.78%

Free Democrats Party – 0.94%

Armenian Revival Party – 3.72%

Tsaurkyan Bloc – 27.37%

[Armenian National] Congress [Party]-PPA [People’s Party of Armenia] Bloc – 1.65%

Communist Party of Armenia – 0.75%

[Seyran] Ohanyan-Raffi [Hovannisian]-[Vartan] Oskanian Bloc – 2.07%

Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party – 6.58%

According to the CEC preliminary data, the voter turnout in the parliamentary election was 60.86 percent.

Five political parties and four blocs ran for parliament on Sunday. Political parties have to get 5 percent of votes, whereas the blocs need 7 percent to be elected to the National Assembly of Armenia.
