YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan on Monday received the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) election observation mission delegation, led by CIS Executive Committee Chairman Sergei Lebedev, which had arrived in Armenia to conduct observation mission during Sunday’s National Assembly election in the country.

First, Sargsyan thanked the delegation for its active engagement in the election observation mission in Armenia, the press office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Also, he expressed confidence that the CIS observers will present a balanced and unbiased report on the results of Sunday’s voting.

Serzh Sargsyan once again stressed the importance of this parliamentary election, which was conducted after the constitutional reforms in Armenia. In his conviction, it is extremely important that the quality of this election instill confidence among Armenian citizens and all partners.

Lebedev, for his part, stressed that the CIS election observation mission had received the necessary assistance while carrying out his professional work in Armenia, and, as a result, it was able to form a fairly broad and objective representation regarding the election process in Armenia.

In addition, the interlocutors discussed the avenues for the development of cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
