YEREVAN. – OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier regrets closure of the OSCE Yerevan office.

Speaking during a media conference in Yerevan, Zannier recalled that OSCE is acting based on consensus and according to the same principle, the organization is not pointing at a party that violated consensus.

“I do regret the closure of the office in Yerevan. We are trying to find ways to continue our work,” he added.

Zannier said his mandate expires soon and added it was pleasant to work with Armenia. Unfortunately, it was impossible to reach a consensus, but there are many issues and initiatives on the agenda, he said, adding that the closure of the office is only the end of one chapter and the start of new ways of cooperation.

OSCE Yerevan office will close in late August due to the fact that Azerbaijan, under the pretext of trainings for demining experts implemented by OSCE, has blocked the budget of the office.
