YEREVAN. - Terms of powers of the members of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) should be limited, as per the draft amendments to the Law “On authority regulating public services.”

PSRC members, who used to be appointed by the President before, will now be elected by the parliament—by a ½ or 3/5 majority vote. Apart from this, it is suggested that PSRC members should not be elected more than two times on end.

The powers of the parliament are terminated in favor of the parliament in connection with the shift to the parliamentary form of governance, and in line with the Constitutional reforms of December 2015. The powers of the president will be terminated starting from 2018 (with the end of the second term of Serzh Sargsyan).

The PSRC regulates natural monopolies (electricity, gas, water), as well as telecommunication.
