Amid the brisk holiday trade both producers and businessmen are raising prices. For example, the retail price of the popular cigarettes NOY has been raised from 200 up to 210-220 AMD per pack. This slight different multiplied by millions of packs makes a cleanup.

NEWS.am interviewed a number of traders, who said that the producers’ price of the cigarettes has been raised from 191 AMD up to 197 AMD per pack. The price markup is known to be a percentage of the release price, which, however, can be set “to one’s own taste.”

Some traders, who listen to the voice of conscience, prefer selling more at a “lower” price, 210 AMD per pack. However, the price is usually 220 AMD per pack where numerous buyers normally gather.

Slowly but surely, the food price is rising as well. The Yerevan City chain raised the beef price by 100 AMD per kilo on December 17.

During the holidays housewives normally buy much more products than they buy for “everyday” table. So traders are taking their chance of cleaning up on the sale.
