President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has annulled the protocols on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations that were signed by the countries in Zurich in 2009.

The decision was announced during the meeting of the National Security Council on Thursday.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly session in September 2017 Sargsyan said that the Turkish government is putting forward ridiculous preconditions for the ratification of the Zurich protocols. According to the president, as there is no positive progress on Turkey’s ratification of these agreements, Armenia will annul agreements.

The Armenian parliament on Thursday held debates on the matter of the election of the fourth President of the country.

The sole candidate is Ambassador to UK Armen Sarkissian, who is nominated to this office by the ruling coalition government. \

In his speech Sarkissian said if elected, he will use all his zeal, long years of experience, and devotion to resolving the national matters of Armenia, Arstakh and the diaspora.

The respective voting is slated for Friday.

One U.S. citizen and two Armenian nationals were recently indicted by a U.S. Federal Grand Jury for their alleged roles in a visa fraud operation that illegally brought Armenian citizens to the United States for profit.

United States citizen Stella Boyadjian and Armenian citizens Diana Grigoryan aka ‘Dina Akopovna’ and Hrachya Atoyan were recently indicted. The indictment includes charges of conspiracy, visa fraud, money laundering, aggravated identity theft, and illegally bringing aliens into the United States.

Law enforcement officers of Armenia on Wednesday prevented a foreign citizen’s suicide attempt in capital city Yerevan. Japanese citizen Emin Otayi, 48, a resident of Yokoso town, threatened to throw himself off from Victory Bridge.

However, the police brought him out of the dangerous borderline of the bridge and took him to a police station, along with his friend who also was on the bridge.

The Vatican will have a representative in Armenia.

Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor José Avelino Bettencourt, the Archbishop of Cittanova, as the Holy See’s apostolic nuncio to Armenia, informed the Vatican press service.

The new procedure for selling medication in Armenia has come into force on Thursday.

Accordingly, from now on, several prescription drugs will be sold in the country solely by doctors’ prescription.

This decision of the government caused panic among Armenia’s population, who started buying everything without hesitation from pharmacies in the country.

California governor Jerry Brown has appointed two Armenians to the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Armenui Ashvanian of Glendale, and Michael 43, of Los Angeles, have  been appointed to a judgeship in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
