Court hearing on Julian Assange’s extradition has begun in London on Monday, the British Telegraph reported.

The court will decide whether founder of infamous WikiLeaks website, Julian Assange will be extradited to Sweden over charges of assaulting two women and raping one of them. The Swedish authorities have issued a European Arrest Warrant for his extradition to the country.

On Monday morning the opening hearing started in the Woolwich Crown Court of London.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, WikiLeaks website released over 250,000 U.S. embassy cables revealed previously secret information on American intelligence gathering, and political and military strategy.

Several of the WikiLeaks-published documents referred to Armenia. In particular the website published a strong-worded letter (as of December 24, 2008) by the U.S. high ranking official addressed to the Armenian government. In this letter the U.S. threatens with sanctions unless Armenia stops transportation of weapons to Iran through its territory resulted in a killing of American soldiers in Iraq.
