The situation aggravated in Yerevan yesterday after Armenian lawmakers adopted the controversial bill on making amendments to the Armenian parliament’s Rules of Procedure. As as per Prime Minister Pashinyan and the NA “Way Out” (Yelk) Faction, this proposed law will enable to prevent the holding of a snap parliamentary election once the PM resigns from office.

The former ruling Republican Party of Armenia, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP)-supported “Tsarukyan” factions in parliament have voted for this bill.

Subsequently, and upon the call by the PM, thousands of people blocked the parliament building, from Tuesday night to early Wednesday morning. As a result, the deputies were “stranded” in the parliament building over night.

Pashinyan said the ministers and governors representing ARF and Prosperous Armenia party will be dismissed. He entered the parliament late on Tuesday evening to hold talks with the parliamentary forces which lasted two hours. However, the parties seem not to have made an agreement. Pashinyan will continue his talks with the parliamentary political forces, and in connection with conducting a snap parliamentary election in Armenia.

President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian has signed executive orders, pursuant to which the six ministers representing the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party have been dismissed.

During Tuesday night’s rally in capital city Yerevan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he had proposed to the President to dismiss these ministers as well as all provincial governors representing the PAP and the ARF.

Prior to his announcement ARF Dashnaktsutyun said they are recalling their ministers.

A memorial service for the legendary Charles Aznavour will be held on Friday at Les Invalides in Paris.

French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacote led the march in memory of Charles Aznavour on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said he would leave for France to participate in the memorial events to be held on October 5-6.

A meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers is planned by the end of this year, Armenian Foreign MInistry's spokesperson said.

“A meeting of foreign ministers is likely to be held by the end of this year,” Tigran Balayan said during a briefing on Tuesday.

Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov met in September on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.

A sign for Artsakh Avenue was unveil Tuesday morning during a street naming ceremony hosted by the city of Glendale.
