An Armenian delegation led by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan is on a working visit to Yaroslavl, Russia. The Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation is holding its 11th sitting in Yaroslavl.

Before the sitting, the Commission Co-Chairmen, RA Premier Tigran Sargsyan and RF Minister of Transport Igor Levitin held a private meeting. Minister Levitin pointed out the significant fact that the Commission is holding its sitting in Yaroslavl, where a recent forum discussed issues surviving the international global crisis and establishing new international economic relations. According to Minister Levitin, the global economic stability is experiencing serious tests.

Addressing the bilateral economic cooperation, the Armenian Premier pointed out that the processes in the Armenian economic are similar to those in the Russian economy. “It is no coincidence, as out economic systems are integrated. More than 1,000 economies with Russian capital are operating in Armenia. The Armenian energy and transport systems are integrated with the Russian economy,” the Armenian Premier said. He pointed out that the economic crisis delivered a rather strong blow on the economic in the first half of this year. However, “with cautious optimism, one can notice upward economic trends.” This means that the RA Government’s anti-crisis program produced results, the RA Premier said. He expressed gratitude to the Russian Government and RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin for the Russian assistance in implementing anti-crisis measures.

The Commission discussed and approved bilateral agreements on economic relations, re-operation of the Armenian enterprises transferred to Russia against Armenia’s national debt, as well as ones on cooperation in the fuel-energy complex, transport, education, and cultural sectors.

In conclusion, Minister Levitin conveyed RF Premier Vladimir Putin’s warm greetings to the Armenian Premier. The Commission Co-Chairmen signed the Protocol of the 11th sitting of the Intergovernmental Commission. Thereafter they held a joint news conference. The Armenian delegation is to return to Yerevan this evening.
