The application to be considered by the Constitutional Court on August 29 concerns Robert Kocharyan more than the case of the events of March 1, 2008. This is what second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan’s attorney Hayk Alumyan told journalists today.

“The issue to be considered on August 29 is a specific issue, but the issue to be considered by the Venice Commission and the European Court of Human Rights will have a global impact on this case,” he said.

On August 29, the Constitutional Court of Armenia will consider the application of major accused-on-trial in the case of the events of March 1, 2008, second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan through a written procedure. The second President of Armenia requests that the Constitutional Court verify the constitutionality of the two articles of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding the grounds for applying a preventive measure and the circumstances excluding proceedings of the criminal case or criminal prosecution.
