The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia has rejected the appeal of the attorney of Judge of Yerevan court of general jurisdiction Davit Grigoryan against the decision of the National Security Service on rejecting institution of a criminal case in relation to the search of Grigoryan’s office, as reported Head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office Arevik Khachatryan.

The attorney had appealed a court decision on permitting a search of the office of Davit Grigoryan, as well as the decision of the National Security Service to institute a criminal case in relation to the unlawful sealing of the door of Davit Grigoryan’s office.

On July 27, the Supreme Judicial Council upheld the motions of the Prosecutor General’s Office and agreed to institute criminal prosecution against Davit Grigoryan, and upon the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council, the judge’s powers were suspended.

Later, Davit Grigoryan was charged with commission of official fraud by an official for mercenary purposes or other personal motives or due to group interests.

Davit Grigoryan was the judge in the case of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, and on May 18, 2019, he rendered a decision to release Kocharyan, accepting as a basis the personal pledge by the former and incumbent Presidents of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic).
