Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan on Wednesday received the delegation led by UNICEF Representative to Armenia Tanya Radochay, as reported the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.

The minister attached importance to the cooperation with UNICEF and expressed willingness to enhance mutual cooperation within the scope of legislative amendments for children’s rights protection.

UNICEF Representative Tanya Radochay stated that the UNICEF is ready to support the Ministry of Justice and discuss the future directions for cooperation within the scope of the UNICEF’s mandate. Radochay considered the fact that Armenia is one of the countries with the lowest number of juvenile convicts in places of imprisonment a brilliant example, and the creation of a Council for Juvenile Justice — a successful example.

During a discussion on the issues related to children’s rights protection, Minister Badasyan assured that human rights protection is one of the priorities of the Government of Armenia and that the solutions to the issues raised will be incorporated in the new National Strategy on Human Rights Protection and its Implementation Action Plan for 2020-2022.
