At midday today, the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction of Shengavit District, under the chairmanship of Judge Robert Papoyan, began to examine the motion filed by the National Security Service to select detention as a preventive measure for former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan’s nephew, Karen Khachatryan and the appeal of the latter’s attorneys against Khachatryan’s arrest. Karen Khachatryan also attended the court session.

At around 5:30 p.m., after a long court session, the judge announced an intermission, and the session will continue later today.

Karen Khachatryan held the position of Head of the Internal Security Department of the State Revenue Committee and is charged with squander in particularly large amounts.

Within the scope of the criminal case, a charge is also filed against his paternal uncle, former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, former Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan. A court is currently examining the motion for detention as a preventive measure for Gagik Khachatryan.
