Statement of the Secretariat of the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoun) Pan-Armenian Party on the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of WWII

“As a people having experienced genocide during WWI, the Armenian people feel the pain of the peoples with the same fate much more sharply. By the same fate, it is our duty to share their pain and express our solidarity with them. Poland is the first victim of the Second World War that took the lives of tens of millions of people, and the Polish people — one of the peoples who suffered the gravest genocidal casualties. The Armenian people also suffered the gravest casualties during the Second World War. Our nation, which were subjected to genocide a generation ago, lost nearly 300,000 of its sons. Thus, there could not have been a more important task for the Prime Minister than his participation in the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of WWII. This is what not only national dignity and moral duty, but also the state and national interests require. We do not accept the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to not participate in the events dedicated ot the 80th anniversary of WWII. The Armenian people have deep respect for the memory of the victims of WWII and shares the pain and expresses solidarity with the Polish people who experienced genocide. We convey our greetings to all the participants of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of WWII and assure that we stand with them for freedom and democracy,” the statement reads.
