Head of the Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Edmon Marukyan has conveyed a congratulatory message to all Armenians from Strasbourg.

He particularly wrote the following:

“The European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (European Convention on Human Rights) entered into force on this day back in 1953. Thanks to this Convention, nearly 800,000,000 people in Europe have the right to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights which, for many, is the last hope for restoration of violated rights since, due to objective and subjective reasons, it is not always that national courts function smoothly.

I congratulate all us Armenians since we are lucky to be living in a time when there is such a document and such a well-established court.”
