Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan has issued a statement on the application that deputy of the My Step faction Edgar Arakelyan has submitted for resignation.

“On September 4, deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Edgar Arakelyan submitted a resignation letter pursuant to part 1 of Article 155 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia “Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly”.

Pursuant to part 2 of Article 155 of the Constitutional Law “Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly”, if a deputy withdraws, in writing, his or her resignation letter within one week after promulgating the resignation, the Speaker of the National Assembly shall issue a statement on this. If the deputy fails to withdraw his or her resignation letter, a record shall be drawn up in regard to termination of his or her powers and shall be signed and promulgated by the Speaker of the National Assembly. The resignation shall be considered as accepted from the moment of promulgation of the record,” the statement of the Speaker of the National Assembly reads.
