The Armenian authorities are applying ineffective measures to distract the public’s attention from serious issues. This is what political technologist Vigen Hakobyan told journalists today.

The analyst stated that there are many issues and problems that the incumbent authorities haven’t solved, including the exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine, the ratification of the Istanbul Convention, the relations with Stepanakert and Armenia’s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“This is why the authorities are using different technologies to distract the public’s attention. However, the arrests of criminals and the criminal cases against famous people such as the former finance minister no longer distract the public,” Vigen Hakobyan emphasized.

According to him, the euphoria of the people ended in April-May 2019, and people started showing interest in their domestic issues and the socio-economic situation.

“People are waiting for the solutions to specific issues of their concern. This is why the arrests of people like Gagik Khachatryan are only current for a couple of days,” the analyst noted.
