Real inflation is 25% in Armenia against the officially reported 12.4%, the management expert Harutyun Mesrobyan told journalists April 4.

It depends on how inflation is calculated. “Socially vulnerable sections of the population spend their money on food or utilities. Even official data show a price rise of more than 18% here,” Mesrobyan said.

According to the World Bank (WB), the poverty level in Armenia rose from 23% in 2008 up to 34.1% in 2010. Therefore, about 1.1 million people in Armenia are affected by high inflation.
