According to the International Monetary Fund report, economy slump in Armenia in 2009 is expected.

After economic recession in Russia (7.5%), the CIS states with lower income and those not oil exporters (Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan) will suffer severe recession in 2009, the forecast says. Growth rate in the mentioned countries will not exceed 3% in 2010.

Thus, the largest recession will be registered in Armenia, making 15.6% and Ukraine-14%.

The consumer price increase (4.4%) will be the lowest among CIS states, whereas in Ukraine it will reach 16.3%, Belarus-16% and Russia-12.3%.

IMF forecasts 2.1% growth in 2010 in CIS countries. Two-digit economic growth rate of 1.2% will be registered in Turkmenistan, followed by Georgia-2%, Azerbaijan-with 7.4% and Russia- 1.5% in 2010.
