The children of Armenian families that are illegal immigrants in Istanbul attend an illegal school, reported the Turkish Sonsaya website, referring to the French AFP news agency.

The world has focused its attention on the Armenian-Turkish relations since the Armenian-Turkish protocols were signed.

According to the report, the illegal school is at the basement of a building in Istanbul. The children use textbooks brought from Armenia. Turkish officials are well informed of such schools. The illegal Armenian immigrants arrive in Istanbul through Georgia.

A survey conducted by Koç University (Turkey) showed that 20,000 illegal Armenian immigrants are living in Istanbul alone. They are afraid of being deported, but, for human reasons, the Turkish authorities shut their eyes to the situation. The illegal Armenian immigrants mostly work as babysitters and cleaners. No Armenian has been deported from Turkey for national reasons.

Yerevan-Istanbul buses leave the Armenian capital six days a week. It is much easier for Armenians to go to Turkey than to Moscow, Russia. In contrast to Russian policemen, Turkish policemen do not ask Armenians any questions. Many dream of a peace agreement between the two states.
