Facebook introduced a wrist mind reader and augmented reality keyboard that will allow users to replace the mouse and keyboard in future products. The company's Facebook Reality Labs has demonstrated prototypes, CNBC reported.

The wrist device is capable of reading neurological signals sent from the user's brain to the hands. It can also read these signals to understand what the user wants to do and reproduce the action in a virtual or augmented reality environment.

Facebook researchers have demonstrated forceful actions in which the user could pinch their fingers in real life to hold and control virtual remote objects in augmented reality.

Besides, the company showcased electromyography wristbands that users can wear to type on any surface as if they were typing on a physical keyboard. Although there is no keypad, EMG wristbands will register the intent of touching the user's fingers and record letters and words.
