On May 25, the Interagency Commission coordinating the cooperation between Armenian government and European agencies held a special sitting chaired by Secretary of the RA National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan. The Commission discussed European Commission’s 2009 annual report and addressed the present problems.
According to Baghdasaryan, the EU made a positive appraisal of implementation of the Armenia-EU program of action. On the other hand, the EU expressed its concern over a number of shortcomings. “We have to ensure the implementation of all actions within the established timeframe. There are a number of unresolved issues: some of the ministries failed to fulfill their commitments due to financial problems. We have to better organize the work to achieve better results,” said Baghdasaryan as quoted by the NSC press service reports.
The Commission members RA Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakosyan and Deputy Economy Minister Mushegh Tumanyan presented the work on the Armenia-EU association agreement, as well as on a trade agreement. The Armenia-EU association agreement is to be signed before the end of this year.
