YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: A delegation comprising parliamentarians is planned to visit the US in the first half of the new year. It will be led by the president of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.
Alen Simonyan's spokesperson Tsovinar Khachatryan did not provide details about the nature of the visit and other matters, saying that there is no official order on that visit yet.
However, according to some information, the visit is official, and Alen Simonyan himself will choose with whom he will head for the US from the ruling faction.
It is said that a large delegation will leave.
Simonyan applied also to the opposition factions to give the names of the candidates for the business trip. The [opposition] "Armenia" Bloc refused, as the faction issued a statement, still last week, that they were suspending their participation in international organizations until their demand is met: that is, the authorities lift the ban on leaving the country for their MPs who are included in criminal cases.
However, the [opposition] "With Honor" faction has theoretically given its consent; in the parliament they say that the head of the faction, Artur Vanetsyan, may be included in the makeup [of this delegation].
