YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: The investigation of the criminal case launched against former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan is over, the case will enter court in January.

Recently, his lawyers petitioned the investigator to stop the criminal prosecution, but the petition has been denied. They are going to appeal that denial to the prosecutor's office. Tonoyan told the lawyers that if the appeal is denied, then the time will come [for him] to speak, and he will not be silent anymore, he will make startling disclosures.

Let us recall that a criminal case has been launched at the NSS [(National Security Service)] regarding the alleged misuse in the process of acquiring ammunition, in particular, the acquisition of low-quality, useless missiles. Within the framework of the criminal case, 7 persons have been charged, including former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, businessman Davit Galstyan—"Patron Davo"—who is engaged in the supply of weapons, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces Stepan Galstyan. Tonoyan is charged under Article 179, Section 3 of the RA Criminal Code: committing large-scale embezzlement. It is about 2 billion 277 million 323 thousand RA drams.
