Experts are negative about Georgian Government decision to increase excise tax on domestic tobacco production up to the level of imported one. This might entail a threat of cigarettes divest in Georgia, whereas the local companies might face with bankruptcy, Akhali Taoba daily reports.

Economic expert Gia Khukhashvili says two scenarios are possible – either the importers leave their prices unchanged (and by doing so they will jeopardize domestic production), or will increase price working for superprofit. According to him, the second scenario is more acceptable for domestic production, however it will negatively affect the consumers.
