Zhoghovurd daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in part: The Platform of Democratic Forces—formed from the pro-Western forces of Armenia—intends to hold a signature campaign in August with the demand to put the [country’s] EU membership matter to a referendum.

As we had reported earlier, this platform had petitioned to the NA [i.e. the National Assembly] with a proposal to hold a referendum, however, [PM] Nikol Pashinyan rejected his satellite pro-Western political forces and announced—during the Armenian Forum for Democracy held on July 1—that Armenia will not hold a referendum on EU membership because he, as the head of the country, already knows the opinion of the RA people [in this matter].

In fact, after receiving a rejection from Pashinyan, the pro-Western forces have decided to collect dividends among the public in the great anti-Russian background created in Armenia. They intend to start a signature campaign, collect 50,000 signatures and submit it to the parliament as a public demand so that the NA accepts the plan of holding a referendum in Armenia on EU membership. (…).

They will submit the collected 50 thousand signatures to the NA as a plan-demand for a referendum on the matter of [Armenia’s] EU membership. (…).
