Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in part: The government has "retrospectively" decided to correct its sloppy, ignorant work and establish a new checklist in order to exercise proper oversight over the field of space activities.
Although the legislative package related to space activities entered into force back in 2020, and already 3 years later, under [PM] Nikol Pashinyan's power, they were drumming about the [Armenian] achievement of the century, the launch of the first Armenian satellite—Hayasat 1—into space, it turns out all this was done without proper supervision.
As a result, the Armenian satellite did not provide any benefit to the Republic of Armenia and interfered with the work of other countries' satellites. It was even reported in the press that on July 3, the dismissal of Avet Poghosyan, the Deputy Minister of HTI [i.e. High-Tech Industry] (who coordinated that domain), was due to the failure related to the satellite, although Poghosyan had called it nonsense in his conversation with us.
The Urban Development, Technical [Standards] and Fire Safety Inspectorate has been recognized as the authority exercising oversight over the field of [Armenia’s] space activities.
