PreferredYEREVAN. – Hraparak daily writes that on Friday it tried to receive concluding comments from Armenia’s Police Chief, Vladimir (Vova) Gasparyan.
“To our question as to the [Armenian police] domain’s main happening for this year, Vova Gasparyan responded: ‘The good thing is that the good, nonetheless, is more than the bad. And the bad thing is that we still have not built the desired police force.’ To our correspondent’s question as to whether the coming year will be difficult for the men in uniform, considering that 2012 is an election year, he said: ‘I do not think it will be difficult. And we will meet the intensiveness of the [political] parties’ battle with self-possession, objectiveness, and fairness.’ And it became clear that his [Gasparyan] New Year festive night will differ from that of other [New Year’s Eve] pork leg [feast]-loving officials. ‘I welcome the New Year as a Christian, [as] a humble man of the Armenian Apostolic Church. At midnight, and as always, I will be at the church with my family; and I will fast until the birth [Christmas] of our Lord [Jesus Christ],’” Hraparak writes.
