YEREVAN. – Not believing that the Madrid Proposals can resolve the Karabakh problem, Armenian opposition Heritage Party’s Parliamentary Faction leader Styopa Safaryan is, and continues to be, among the ranks of well-informed pessimists in this regard, Safaryan himself stated during a press conference on Monday.

“These are notorious proposals which have a potential to cause a new war, a new conflict. Furthermore, they could deal an even greater blow to the process, than the frozen Armenian-Turkish protocols,” he said.   

Safaryan also expressed a view that even though Armenia did not play any particular role in 2011 foreign policy, Armenia’s factor was gradually highlighted, but irrespective of Armenian authorities and because of international realities.  

“But I fear that, just like following the Georgian-Russian war in 2008, in this case as well the new opportunity might not end as notoriously as it was in the case of the Armenian-Turkish protocols,” Styopa Safaryan concluded.
