YEREVAN. - No news is good news – this saying best of all reflects developments in the South Caucasus in 2011, Georgian expert Zurab Abashidze told Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent adding that the year was not an easy one, but nothing special occurred as well.

“The year was a tranquil one. Despite the existence of many problems, unsettled conflicts remained frozen as well. No escalation took place, while no progress was registered either,” the expert stated talking about the Karabakh conflict and issues of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

According to the expert, the coming year promises nothing concrete on this background.

Regarding the Karabakh conflict and Georgia’s position, Abashidze said that both the official Tbilisi and Georgian population, including Armenians and Azerbaijanis, are interested in the seediest settlement of the conflict.
