PARIS. – France’s political class from Union for Popular Movement (UMP) to the Socialists expressed solidarity for UMP MP, author of the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide Valerie Boyer on Tuesday. She received threats and offences, French Libération reports quoting France-Presse agency.

UMP Secretary General Jean-François Copé stated that ‘freedom of opinion is in the heart of our democracy.’ UMP head Christian Jacob supported Boyer.

Radical Left Party (PRG) head Jean-Michel Baylet also spoke for Boyer.

“I do not share her political views, but I strictly condemn threats,” he said.

Boyer’s site was ‘inactive’ on Monday, while the Senate’s site is not available because of attacks since Sunday.
