ANKARA. – Turkish authorities discussed the issue of sending the Turkish Ambassador back to France. He was recalled after the French National Assembly passed the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide.

Turkey decided to send its Ambassador Tahsin Burcuoglu back to Paris till Jan 10, if confirmed. The Ambassador also approved it adding that he may return back for some meetings, Turkish Milliyet reports.

The French Senate will be open from Jan 10 to Feb 22 and the Ambassador will work against including the Armenian bill into the Senate’s agenda.

To note, the French National Assembly passed the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide on Dec 22, last year. As a result, Turkey recalled its Ambassador and declared to apply penalties of 8 points against France.
