YEREVAN. – Over 73 foreigners appealed for asylum at the migration state service last year, out of which only 48 applications were approved, deputy PM, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan said during the Tuesday consultations. 

It was stressed that Armenia has intensified its work with the EU in the field of migration. Armenia and EU signed a joint declaration on Mobility Partnership last year. Twinning project established by the EU also was approved. It will start this spring and will last for 27 months, with the budget estimating at €1 million.

Over 419 refugees have received Armenian citizenship last year. Thus, Armenia has more than 86,000 refugees since 1996 after the law on Refugees was passed.
